Kind of cliche right? I've been making New Year's Resolutions every single year for as long as I can remember. Do I ever hit any of them- rarely. Not from a lack of trying, but more because things just get in the way, laziness strikes, and my old ways set in.
This year is going to be different. 2019 will mark my 4th year since being diagnosed with breast cancer. This year I am adamant to not let the nasty cancer voice take over my life. If you or someone you know has ever gone through cancer, you'll understand what I mean! This year though, I plan to stick to my goals and crush them! Any changes that bring me closer to any of my goals I will deem successful!
2019 is all about a healthier me! Healthier body, mind and soul. If I can do everything in my power to make sure I live a healthier lifestyle, I'll be one step closer to ensure the big C won't be rearing her ugly head! Some of the changes I'll be working on and documenting are:
- Healthier body- My body has forgotten what it's like to be active. Being bed ridden off and on for over 6 years (difficulty pregnancy with baby #1), I get winded just carrying one of my kids up the stairs. And although I just turned 40, if someone like Jennifer Lopez or Cameron Diaz (who are both older than me) can stay in phenomenal shape and look great at their age, then I've got something to look forward to! Plus- Jack (the hubs) and Krys (my unbiological daughter) signed me up for a Spartan-like race in June... time to hit get into shape!
- Healthier diet- This goes in part with a healthier body. I honestly believe that it doesn't really matter so much as how active you are, but at the end of the day, it's what you are putting into your body. I used to be a HUGE sweets and meat eater. Since getting BC, I have cut down my sweets and meat intake (don't get me wrong, I will have a few Ferrero Roche and some cookies, but I do limit it!) I'm not where I want to be with my diet, so I'll be documenting the changes I make as well! Besides, if I eat healthy (and since I do the majority of the cooking- my family will too!)
- Healthier mind- For the past few months I've been getting a ton of anxiety and felt restless with how much clutter there is in my home. I've read a ton of books on decluttering, used Pinterest like crazy to find ideas and solutions, but in actuality, I just need to get started and power through. Less "stuff", whether it is in my closet, in the kid's room/playroom, or even on my calendar will ease the amount of anxiety and tension I have from so much "build up".
- Healthier soul- I am a Christian. I love Jesus. I want my kids to love and seek Jesus. But I'm such a hypocrite because I don't lead by example. After our church had a big separation many many years ago, it was difficult for our family to find another church home. Since then, we've been jumping back and forth between churches without giving an opportunity for our kids to dig their feet in. This year, more than anything else, we are putting God first. I know if I do this, everything will fall into place.
Some other things I want to accomplish in 2019 is to continue building my business and help others along the way, travel and build more experiences/memories, and continue to build deep and meaningful relationships with those that want to. I'm no longer going to force relationships, run after friendships, or ponder over people and their time.
Life is too short, let's make the best of it in the next 12 months! If we are able to make the slightest changes towards our goal- then we would definitely be living our best life yet!
